b-b-BURBERRY PRORSUM Fall OUTERWEAR DIVINE.

Christopher Bailey delivered an ultimately desirable collection outerwear. Giant-collared shearlings, military-style pea coats, overcoats and parkas (and every hybrid thereof) in all many variations of volume, shape, shagginess with leather strap and buckle detailings.

Bailey said backstage in terms of the collection’s origin:

“I was thinking of uniforms and cadet girls—but it all started when I looked at an aviator jacket in the archive. Then, as I started designing into it, I realized it could be as versatile as the trench—strong and sexy, masculine and feminine.”

Some of my favourites:

A easy equation to follow: jacket; lacey, skimpy, drapey skirt/dress; thigh-high leather boots or shearling-lined with buckles and straps!

In love with the zipper detailing of this overcoat!

The lapels on this blazer are such a good size

This one has Alice Dellal’s name written all over it.

Christopher Bailey nailed proportion and volume ratio in Burberry’s collection. And that shearling-lined leather aviator jacket will be the next ‘it’ jacket. For sure.

Giambattista Valli Fall 2010 PFW

The show was opened with a camel coat like most other designers this fall. Valli’s was of a cocoon-molded shape worn with semi-opaques and kitten sling-backs. You know straight away from the model’s classic up-do and black ‘cat’ eyeliner that there would be a little bit of a 60’s theme going on.

Many thigh-high shift dresses, fur, some embellishments and sheer gowns… Absolutely gorgeous as I had expected.

I love how this cropped jacket almost looks like an open cape

How innovative!

So many cute swingin’ shift dresses

Beautiful sheer evening dress, wish I could see it without the blazer though!

Va-va-voom!

Sheer is definitely a huge trend for Fall and it’s all over the runways in Paris and Milan… but please please please don’t over-do it:

Unless you’re a fashion eccentric mega-star like the lovely Lady Gaga then you got no excuse!

GENTLE FAWN X GLEE

You may or may not be struck by the phenomenon that is GLEE, the muched talked about US ‘high school musical’ style comedy drama tv series. Glee is on every week on E4 on a monday night then repeated later in the week on channel 4 too. So one of the main characters, Rachel Berry, featured frequently in the Gentle Fawn Sky jacket, in episode 8 last week.

Nigel Cabourn Mandalay Yellow Jacket

Nigel Cabourn Mandalay yellow

Yet another amazing jacket that’s just landed from Nigel Cabourn. We’ve seen quite a few brands (Folk, Oliver Spencer, A.P.C. etc.) releasing yellow jackets for Spring but the Mandalay jacket has to be the best one we’ve seen this season. Made of 85% cotton and 15% silk, with a slight fishtail at the back, the special note of this jacket has to be the packaway feature, allowing the garment to be rolled up into the left pocket and turned into a bag and clipped around the waist.  At £455 from Sarah Coggles it’s a lot more expensive than a K-Way (!) but all Cabourn fans out there will know how special and unique this jacket is. (Part of Nigel Cabourn’s Authentic line).
