I'm a newish devotee of Fatshionista, a livejournal community that grew out of the 'issues' and debating side of 'Fat' and into the fashion side. The main posts of the community are Outfit of the Day (OOTD), sales posts, and general fashion queries. It's a wonderful, safe feeling community and I love it. Sales fridays are kinda...kid in a candy store for me - I look out for edgy goodies which don't get made in the UK and buy them. Recently I ordered an adorable size 22 (US) lip service dress. It is hot. I love it. Except it is is way too big. It fits okay around the bust, but it is just....it feels like it should be close fitting in certain places - so it feels about two sizes too big.
And I always had this problem. It's not going to go away even if I do lose inches via the 'get healthy' plan. My boobs may get smaller but they will continue to be the rack of doom no matter what cup size they actually appear to be. I'm finally going to a bravissimo brick and mortar store this week, but it seems even the 36GG and the 36H may be wildly 'wrong' for me. New estimates are looking at a 34HH, or possibly even bigger. That's a 6 inch difference between my 'measured' fitting and the actual band size. Holy fuck.
Anyway, my mission in life currently is to find a stock of white shirts that look good on me, and fit. And that I like. Some of the current fashions may 'look good on me' but I hate them. However I also have a habit of liking certain clothes once they've actually gone out of fashion. Ho hum. The other 'mission' is to rediscover my preferred 'alternative' looks. I've never been totally out there in terms of style, and actually I don't like general gothiness, I just like some of the clothes, if that makes sense. I adore Abby from NCIS, but her OTT goth look certainly isn't me.
Boden have called me up to acknowledge receipt of my letter about ethical issues. I wasn't in so the nice person left a message but it shows they are taking the issues seriously and they promise to get back to me with detailed answers to my questions soon. I'll post them up here under 'Responses - Boden' when I get them. If you'd like to see what I asked them, take a look at 'Letter to Boden' under the home page.

I guess y'all with fake curves will have to go somewhere else.
The NYDJ stands for "Not Your Daughters Jeans" if you cared. That slogan brings their choice of model into question. I bet the advertising agency hired a young, white and slender model on reflex. Hopefully it backfires.
Why are companies using empowerful marketing to sell crap? Why is this product for women with real curves if it is designed to hide them? What is so crucial about dropping one whole size?
Live Long and Prosper co. conciously shows the love for Hip Hop(Culture), the everyday drudery of working for the man and keeping your mind and body right can be expressed through our fashion.
Well now it's time to get back to work. The weekend was great, spent it just chilling at home doing practically nothing (I washed clothes though! And got new tires! Those are productive!) after getting home at about midnight Friday night. I would have gotten there sooner but I stayed on campus to play an awesome Slip-'N-Slide/Baseball/I-Have-No-Idea-What game where in between the bases (Which took the form of kiddie pools) were Slip-'N-Slides (With waaaaaaaay too much soap :P Lol they were extremely hard to run on move on at all without falling) It totally rocked. So anyway, I stayed for church Sunday morning, ate Chen Chen's (The best Chinese buffet ever), and then headed out after a nap :P Oh and by the way friendship bread is officially great to have in a dorm.

I am issuing a raincheck for all those who were awaiting the t-shirt blog fashion show that was scheduled for today (basically, just WIGSF). The reason behind this cancellation is that all my good shirts are in the laundry, and I'm not showing off dirty shirts. I have some class.
I'm watching the first Hellboy right now, never saw it before. I'm about a half hour into it, and even though I swear I've been paying attention the entire time, I feel like there's something I'm not getting, as if I missed an important plot point. Let me just make sure I have it right: the Nazis were trying to harness the power of Hell via Rasputin, the Brits stopped them, and they just happened to come upon Hellboy, whom is now trying to rid the world of evil. This correct? Because of if so... WTF. Seriously.
Ah hell, I'll just read the comic book and figure it out. Yeah, comic book, whatever, I'm a nerd.
Sorry about the lack of posts, I've been in Florida for four days. While there, I found myself wondering about another blast-from-the-past early 1990s issue-- or two. I distinctly remember in 1991 or 1992, you HAD to have your jeans "peg rolled". If you don't know what I'm talking about, you take the jeans at the ankle and pinch them tight about your leg and then roll in small folds, upwards two or three turns. The other phenomenon was silk shirts. I remember owning a couple of those, but a little known fact (I hope) about me is that I perspire like a water buffalo in the Sahara, so it didn't go so well with me.
The real question here is WHY did we do this? Can anybody cite me any sort of pop culture figure who wore silk shirts and/or peg-rolled their jeans? I was, as with all trends, well behind this one, so I have no idea where it came from. Does anybody?
