I have moved on to my next project.  For anyone that has come along from the APQ site, you know how I love to find “fun and funky” prints to play with.  I found these skulls on my shop hop with my mom somewhere in Oregon….and found the perfect project for it;)

I found the skull and scissors idea from on of the craftsites…I think I bookmarked it (will add link later).  It was originally used on a tee-shirt.  I surfed the web for free clip art, resized, and cut up what I found to wind up with this.  The pink polka dot fabric is leftover from the pink quilt I made for my friend that is dealing with breast cancer.  It’s the last of the pink.  I think I put it to good use;)

Now, I am going to use that iron-on fleece stuff that one of the other totes calls for in this edition of Quilts and More (one of my favorite mags…tons of goodies every time that are quick to make).  Anyway…rambling here….I didn’t want to try a new product on a project that I have no way of getting more of, so I decided to use one of my UFO’s that was tossed aside for the past year or so to practice/experiment on….

I really like the way it adhered to the top…once you got it ironed on enough, it didn’t move at all.  The loft is okay for small projects like this one, but it is a bit stiff.  I wouldn’t use it in anything except wall hangings, or other such usable projects….no bed quilts though.  The other issue I had was that there is only adhesive on one side.  You still have to baste the backing on if you are going to make a project like this.  It would be nice to find a product like this with adhesive on both sides.

I also practiced my free-motion quilting on this piece.  Figured I didn’t really care for the project in the first place anyway, so if I royally screw up, it won’t hurt my feelings……

I got the whole thing done last night (stayed up ALL night playing).  The thread I used was better this time…didn’t break on me every few stitches.  It’s been several years since I used this technique, so the practice was in order.

Well, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  I am going to get back to my projects.  The house is clean (enough), the animals are fed (enough), and the hubby is occupied with the video games for now;)  I’ve dreamed in some really VIVID colors lately….that and dreaming of fancy hotels.  I have no idea what that means or signifies.  Who knows;)

Anyway, Ta Ta for now;)  Happy Quilting!!
