Happen to chance upon this wonderful jacket suit on the legendary Princess Diana. She must have wore this some 20 years back in the 8Os but it still looks gorgeous if you ask me. In today’s times, we would probably have paired that jacket with a capri pants or a pencil skirt in another colour or texture just so we don’t end up looking overdone. And hey, it reminded me of . Nice how the Military Jacket is in a comfy jersey cotton material yet remains structured as it hangs nicely on one’s frame.

One of the essentials to dressing in Austin is layering. If it’s cold outside, it’s hot inside; if it’s hot outside, it’s freezing inside. We Texans don’t do happy mediums, we do extremes. Luckily leather is great choice–almost seasonless, it’s the first piece into your closet in winter and the last out in the summer. You can pair it with lightweight dresses or denim and boots. The latest styles are sidewinders, sleek and chic jackets that cross or zip up the sides for a hip zipped silhouette and unzip for a breezy, layered look. Can’t go wrong with the following pics (love the buttery yellow vest!)
It’s snowing. It has been snowing since about 8am (it’s now 10pm) and there’s enough snow that it’s actually inside my screened in porch. The plows haven’t even been down the road and the wind is howling. It’s a really icky day.
So I’ve stayed inside and generally had a lovely day napping, blogging, and sewing. I’ve had a chance to work on a couple projects. The Chinese Take Out bag, Chinese left overs, and a medium sized green striped canvas tote. I love these bags. I have had so much fun putting them together.
