242/2009

After the Sunday morning worship at Leicester Central Salvation Army and watching the Belgian F1 Grand Prix at lunchtime I took Sarah to Bristol on the first stage of her journey to Italy (where she is studying for a year). On Monday (a Bank Holiday in England) Marta and I had a cooked breakfast at a local supermarket, went shopping at a DIY store, had a coffee at a garden centre, bought some plants for the front garden, bought a leather man bag for me and then did some gardening at home! Late in the afternoon we were pleased to hear that Sarah had safely arrived in Siena.

The AWESOME Corset!

So my sister in law had me make her a corset to wear to the ren fair this past Saturday. Unfortunately she did not show up, so my beautiful corset was not given the appreciation that it should have gotten. I am totally in love with it!  I think it’s my best corset yet.  I used a different sewing technique to put the channels in than I did with my first corset, and it looks fabulous!!!

Here it is!

It was a great day overall. But woe is me, my sewing is NEVER done. I am still trying to finish Blakes outfit. It is coming along very well. The doublet is about 85% done, with the major construction pieces sewed, now it’s just adding trim and buttons, and the grommets to tie the sleeves. Then onto his pants and the hat! Whew, after all of that, if ANYONE wants custom work from me, I am going to have to charge, this stuff take a lot of time!

What a busy busy week! Just got in from a wonderful bicycle ride…

camdenbikeride

We’ve just got in from a lovely bicycle ride along the canal to Camden and back. We had an amazing picnic courtesy of Marks and Spencers in Regents Park and a Iced Latte a la Starbucks. Thanks! Had a crazily busy week this past week, lots to report on which I will indeed do so in due course!

So as aforementioned, work has been super busy! And I think this week will be even busier! Especially as its Bank Holiday Monday today, so we only have a 4 day week! Excellent! Loving work though, lots to do and it’s all very varied which keeps me very quiet… hah.

It’s been Notting Hill Carnival this weekend, we stayed away from it this year after getting lost in the crowds and high rise flats last year! Oh and the small matter of a dodgy stomach for 3 days straight after very dodgy Jerk Chicken! Sad times!

So expect several blog posts this evening as I’m having a proper catch up! Also, keep an eye out for my eBay posts, got 2 1/2 bin bags of brand new/nearly new clothes, shoes and accessories!

Ms. Judy Pink.

Researching Cosmetics Testing and Animals

Tomorrow I will be at home for most of the day doing some more research for a feature on www.looklovely.net on cosmetics testing and animals.

I need to complete all work on this week’s website in 2 days, which is less time than usual.

I know that sounds like a lot of time, but I have other things to fit in as well.

For example, tomorrow I must sort out a savings account that earning a ludicrously low amount of interest.    So while I might like to wear very casual clothes, I need to look reasonably serious.

As a compromise I will wear a duck egg blue tee shirt by Viz-a-Viz that I bought in Seaford in 2005, with a black floral print skirt by Geoffrey Bean.  I bought this in Denver, Colorado in 2007.

I will wear my van Dahl wedge sandals.  I bought these on Jersey (the island) in 2008.

Once again I shall carry my Marks & Spencer handbag that came from Sheffield in 2007.

Chanel Depression

ChanelI’ve been depressed.  For all sorts of reasons.  And I should have known better than to attempt to solve this thorugh retail therapy, but I have been known to ignore the little voice inside my head.

Walking into Chanel was Problem #1.  Actually touching Chanel bag was Problem #2.  You would think I would stop myself there.  No, of course not.  I went straight into Problem #3 and handed them my American Express.

So, thinking that I just needed the thrill of the buy, I decided to return it.  I mean, $800 for shoes I’ve done. $3,000 for a bag is a whole new ballgame.

After getting delayed by work, by commitments, by…stuff…, I was all set and ready to do the return.  I looked at the receipt. 14 days to return. OK…then I looked at the calendar. Um. Sh&t. It’s 15 days.  How did this happen? I call the boutique. I call many boutiques. They all say they can only do a store credit. F-ck store credit.

So now, I have a Chanel bag.  That I will wear everyday so the cost per wear is 5 cents.  I’ll be out on the streets, living in a cardboard box, but I’ll look damn good. Coco would be proud.

It’s here! It’s finally here!

patternThe dress pattern in all it’s glory arrived in the mail today. The instructions seem thorough and easy enough to follow, which is a plus. Now all I have to do is find some cheap fabric so I can start making the practice garments. Oh, and get the sewing machine. And buy a tape measure.  This could take a while…
