The Polar Opposite Fashion Look
The polar opposite fashion look is all about being yourself and using your imagination to create your own style and look that would differentiate you from the crowd and would make you stand out. All the amazing ideas in fashion are the simple ones for me -anything overcomplicated looks wrong and fake- thats is why fashion trends like the ones pictured in the santorialist are what make that specific blog so succesfull, it invloves real people, interesting people and it pictures and projects their personal look. So This weeks Polar Opposite Look (by kidlazy) involves a beautiful looking tartan blazer By that has just launched a brand new Online store-its looking good, A pair of DC trainers but not just any pair, im talking about the new Era Colab Trainers by DC( pictured below. As for the jeans I would suggest the classic Eco Blue Flame Levis Jeans. Personally i would wear a band T shirt( Sonic Youth Goo For me). Check out the pics below.

Donna Karan: All About Stretch Jersey
Donna Karan Collection
Donna Karan was treated like a rock star when she came to Neiman Marcus recently to talk up her fall 2009 collection of classic draped jerseys paired with oversize silver-ball necklaces by Robert Lee Morris, her longtime jewelry collaborator.
The runway show – just as it was styled at New York Fashion Week in February – was all about stretch jersey, and a return to the looks that first put her on the map. “But this isn’t the jersey of the ’80s,” Karan told the crowd. “That was heavy; this is so light.”
Anticipating that in this economy, her customers want to see classic investment pieces, she brought back some of her famous “seven easy pieces” – black turtleneck bodysuits; long and lean draped tops, dresses and skirts; and jackets with strong shoulders.
With her warm, BFF vibe and tousled hair, the 60-year-old designer has always dressed career women who look the way she does. She’s got an easygoing, sexy aura, looking as if she’s just arrived from a wonderful yoga class. On this day, she showed up in a draped dress, slouchy jacket, bike shorts, a big scarf and flat gladiators in a palette of khaki, putty, gray and brown – “the colors of urbanity, the city, the pavement,” she said.
Sitting in a director’s chair in front of the runway set up for the private event on the second floor, Karan narrated the show, joined by Ken Downing, Neiman Marcus’ fashion director.
Like many other designers, Karan looked back to the ’80s for fall. In her case, giving women something familiar but still new was her goal. “There was intention behind the collection,” she said. “I’m not mimicking an era or a time. This is just who I’ve always been; I’ve always had a connection to the customer and her body.”
As in: “Strong shoulders makes your hips look smaller,” she told the crowd. That got a big laugh and a round of applause. Draping a skirt so that it’s wider on the top and narrower on the bottom slims the body, she said. Why show off the shoulders in an evening gown? “I can dream up 10 different ways to cover myself up,” she said, “but I always show my shoulders. Nobody gains weight in their shoulders.”
Downing, who attends hundreds of fashion shows a year, said that at first he wasn’t so sure about all the squared-off shoulders out there. “But your eye gets used to it,” he said. “It looks new again because we haven’t seen it in the longest time, and it looks great paired with the soft volume of the jerseys.”
Some of the standouts were a cropped caramel leather jacket with a ribbed shawl collar and trench yoke back; the series of portrait collar jackets; a crisp white shirt with rounded shoulders and French cuffs; and draped jersey dresses or tops that expose both shoulders and not much else. Her necklines were high and her hemlines ended way below the knee.
“For myself, I know that God only knows, there comes a time when you shouldn’t be showing your legs,” Karan said. “I like keeping it sexy but covered up. Not to hide yourself, but to embrace yourself.”
The designer spent some time with her fans, who got the unique experience of having her tell them they looked “really hot” or to suggest they try that white blouse with a pair of cropped pants. One guest was eager to show off her favorite Donna Karan belt. Karan smiled politely, then gave it a big clockwise turn. “There. It’s supposed to go like that,” she told her. “I’ve been wearing this belt backward all these years!” Sally Debenham said.
Fashion-show guest Susan Palm, a Bay Area risk-management consultant, has worn the designer’s clothes since they both started their careers in the mid-’80s.
Palm remembers using her first significant paycheck to splurge on a black jersey Donna Karan bodysuit. “I was in banking, and I wore it to work all the time under my suit. Now my 21-year-old daughter likes to wear it with a full skirt.”
