Joan
Tässä on laukku, jonka tein ystävälleni (myöhästyneeksi) syntymäpäivälahjaksi. Hän pitää ruusuista ja vaaleanpunaisesta, joten kun löysin ruusukuvioiset puuvillaverhot, ajattelin voivani tehdä niistä jotain hänen makuunsa sopivaa. Ajelehdin kahden eri ompeluidean välillä, kunnes löysin marketista Novitan kahvat ( ei valitettavasti myy juuri näitä).
Laukun vuori on vanhan roosan väristä satiinia. Sisällä on pieni tasku samaisista ruusuverhoista. Ostin molemmat kankaat käytettyinä . Aiemmista töistä ylijäänyttä vakosamettia käytin välikankaana, jotta laukku pitäisi muotonsa paremmin. Se täytti tehtävänsä melko mainiosti, mutta kokeilen silti ensi kerralla jotain muuta. Vakosametti teki laukusta vähän liian paksun ommeltavaksi.
Laukun nimeksi tuli Joan erään laulajattaren mukaan, josta ystäväni myös sattuu pitämään.
Here’s a bag I made for my friend for a (little late) birthday present. She likes roses and pink so I when I found rose patterned cotton curtains I thought I could use them for something that would suit her taste. For some time I drifted between two ideas of what to sew. Then I found the bag handles. They’re made by a Finnish textile brand Novita (, unfortunately they don’t have these exact handles in the web shop).
The lining is old rose coloured satin (’old’ referring to the shade of rose, not the age of the satin) and there’s a little pocket inside the bag that’s also made from the rose patterned curtains. Both the satin and the curtains were bought second hand from the . I used some left-over cotton corduroy in between them to make the bag’s structure stronger. It did the trick but I’m still going to try something else next time; the corduroy made the whole thing a little too thick to sew.
I named the bag Joan according to a singer my friend also happens to like.
