BYOB!!! No, I am not asking you to bring your own alcohol or anything of that sort. I am encouraging you to Bring Your Own Bag!

In efforts to going green, I try to find cute and affordable products that will help me save the planet, and I hope that you will too.

I’m not going to write a huge spiel about how we are going through global warming and that the ice caps are melting and that eventually, most major cities will be underwater. No, instead I will periodically introduce products that will help develop an awareness of this issue.

So, I found this really awesome line called BYOB-Bring Your Own Bag. These bags are super cute, and you can take them with you shopping so you don’t have to waste paper or plastic bags. These are perfect for the grocery store. They have really cute designs, and they are not that expensive! They are made out of either organic cotton or 100% cotton which is great for the earth!

You know how hard it is to find good luggage in this cold, cold world. I can’t even tell you how many suitcases I’ve gone through in my lifetime. So when I stumbled upon these 2 new collections you can imagine the Stimpy-esque “OH JOY!” that I squealed to myself. 

The first is the fruit of a collaboration between Viktor & Rolf and Samsonite, inspired by the early jet years of the ’50s and ’60s.

I was shown these reusable and recycled carrying bags. I went out and bought a few and used them a couple times, but was disappointed every time I asked for my groceries to be put in these bags. The clerk would look at me, roll her eyes or even audibly sigh with aperant discomfort.

Wal-Mart is following the trends of other stores like Kroger, and other whole foods stores, but a great step in the right direction. I just wish they could get their people behind it a little more.

In some searching around I found some bags online that are a little heavier duty on Amazon and found some good selections, all that I am looking at buying.

For now, one of the best things that I have found to do is walk up to my cashier and say, “I need these groceries in the fewest amount of bags possible,” and I can usually walk out of there with 1/3 the amount of bags I would have otherwise. Pretty easy.

I used to have to look for solutions and ways to make the bags that I did walk out with go further, but no more! Now, Wal Mart has boxes, located near the front door to stuff your old plastic bags in. This is great because I can put any bag in there be it from Wal-Mart, Sexton foods, Walgreens or any gas station. It’s great. By reducing what I do take out of the store and recycling what I do take, I have considerably reduced my plastic bag consumption. I recommend you do the same. I will come up with some statistics for you as soon as I have some longitudinal numbers.

Well, those curtains are up and not lookin’ bad even if I do say so myself.  Nat was really pleased with them and so were the children.  As you can probably see from the photos it’s not a Post Office any more - I’m guessing it’s a vet’s surgery at the moment ……

Ooh, I almost forgot!  I finished my pinafore on Wednesday night.  I was really pleased with the finished result (that’s got to be a first!) and I wore it to work on Thursday.  I got some very positive comments and a couple of the girls even suggested I make some for them!  I’ll get Kev to take some pictures and get them posted.

Before I start on a new project I’m going try and finish off a couple of things I’ve already started.  My velvet skirt just needs hemming so that shouldn’t take long, but the velvet corset top - that’s a different matter altogether (do I have a velvet fixation?  I think I probably do..).  It’s been thrown in a bag, half finished, for the best part of a year now.  I’d really like to get it finished as it’s such a pretty design, but it’s just soooo difficult!  I’ll take some pics of that too so that I can show you.

Ah well, too tired to sew tonight.  Think I’ll go and settle with that coffee that Kev has just made me ……

Yang pertama, Juicy Couture Ocean Plaid tote… .Saya suka sekali kotak-kotak pink-nya. Kombinasinya cukup netral, sehingga bisa masuk ke banyak pilihan warna pakaian. Dibagian kanan kirinya ada kantong serut, bisa dipakai untuk membawa botol minuman. Model totenya yang terbuka, membuat akses untuk mengambil barang jadi sangat gampang. Yum..yum..yumm…

Pilihan yang kedua, Milly Della Fonte Beach Tote. Saya suka dengan motif print-nya. Kombinasi putih ungu dan pink-nya yang sangat girly. Saya berandai-andai memakainya dengan celana longgar berwarna putih, sendal jepit putih dan tank top. Cantik
