Arpoador

Back to sewing!

I made this tote as a gift. I like how much room it has to carry stuff but the straps are not to long. I hate when I am carrying a bag that hits the back of my leg as I walk. Hope you all like it.

Dog Beer And Other Proof

For those who doubted my last post I have few examples of the kind of dog bling and cat toys that many of us only dreamed of as kids.

Back when I was just starting school I remember shoes were a luxury. My 6 brothers and I only had two pair of shoes between us, so we each used to take turns wearing one shoe a day. Which wouldn't have been so bad except in the winter when there was 3 foot of snow and we had to walk 10 miles to school uphill both ways ...... (ok you have all heard the stories of the "bad old days").

And today pets get treated with things like this:

Dog beer

Cat beach house

Dog hat

Kissable dog care

Toy dog handbag

All these toys and so many more can be found at Jake's Dog House (cool cat toys too)
Shop JakesDogHouse.com

PS. I came across this sad tale about using cheap Flea Control on your beloved pets - Please take the time to read it as we don't want your pets to experience the same painful demise as those mentioned. WARNING

Car organiser

A little while ago I was lucky enough to be a test sewer for Craft Apple's latest pattern - the Car Organiser.  Here is my effort, in the front passenger seat:

although it usually lives between the booster and infant seats in the back.

It has a flap pocket on one of the short ends which holds pens/pencils and a mobile phone, and a large pocket on one of the long sides.  On the other two sides I put a flap that closes around the seat belt, so the organiser won't fly off the seat when you brake suddenly (great idea hubby).

The fabric is from the Nigella range by Amy Butler - sadly, I have now used it all up.  It's a great pattern, especially in its final completed and tweaked form.  Linda has done a terrific job designing it!

The Timtex took a bit of wrestling, and I did manage to break one jeans needle, but overall it wasn't really difficult to construct.  Thanks again Linda for letting me be part of the creative process!

Rubber legs

After my recent purchase of leather leggings (which were actually made of spandex), and realising they actually' don't look too bad on my midget legs, I've become obsessed. I really want a pair of trouseresque latex pants with pockets (like the ones in Givenchy Fall 08. I've been trying desperately to find similar ones in other stores besides AA and the one I bought my ones from. So anyways, my research led me to this:

I'm pretty sure I have to have them! They're full tights with a zip, not just regular leggings. They're also around $280 so they're quite a stretch, but I must! For a second I thought I should forget about them because latex pants seem to be a pretty recent trend and therefore not worth it, but it's actually been consistently gracing runways for years! I can't be bother posting pictures to prove it, but here's a list: Givenchy Fall 02, Marc 2007, Reinaldo Lourenço 2007, Alexander McQueen 2005 etc. etc.

Men in Coral

I know next to nothing about menswear, except for what is pleasant to my eyes. And I'd decided a long time ago that I like men who wear pink - it is my personal litmus test for truly attractive men; if they can look good in pink, they get an official certification for hotness.

If pink is good, coral is even better in my books :) I'd always have a soft spot for this shade. Its not as cotton-candy like as pink, which is perhaps more suitable for guys?

The LV Mens collection this season features a splat of coral which I find quite lovely.

Somehow I also like the rather baggy dress pants.

Light pink with coral. Frankly, I can't think of a dandier combination.

For the less bold, there's always the more traditional means of adding colour via the tie. Coral and grey is a good mix - they sort of compliment each other, coming to a very comfortably right equilibrium.

It is often much easier to have colours in your outerwear, building on neutral basics (i.e. shirt). So its quite unexpected (and fun) to do it the other way around.

But I don't really like it when its full on coral like this.
