For those of you who aren't familiar with the daily shopittome email you are missing out! From the fabulous shopittome website, you fill out a few simple questions(size, waist, etc.) and select the brands or stores you want to be informed about. (nordstroms, bloomingdales, big designer lines, and some smaller ones too) Every day you will get an email showing you all the latest sale items in your size from the various stores. It's a brilliant concept because every single day these department stores puts tons of items on sale. The clothes are also from the current seasons and drastically reduced.  I'm a little in love, not gonna lie.

Taking inspiration from a child’s painting

Thank you to everyone who has visited my site.  As a novice I really appreciate your comments.  You may have noticed that I've changed the look of my blog.  This is because I wanted to put links etc down the side and the other theme didn't support them.  I've been finding my way round and will be adding categories and links to other blogs later, but I wanted to share this bag that I made with you tonight so I'll have another play with blog designing another day.

I received this thank you card from two sisters, the oldest of whom is 3.

Their mum is a fellow crafter who is into felting and I thought it would be nice to make something for the youngest's 2nd birthday using the card design.  What could I make?  I decided on making a bag that she could play with at home, putting small toys or a book in.

I love using my embellisher and had some red felt in my stash that I could use for the base.  I've bought so much stuff over the years that I don't feel guilty not paying out more money for new supplies for presents as I have already paid for the stuff in my cupboards.  Included in my stash are lots of fat quarters from my patchwork/quilting/applique period and so I chose reds, blues and bright greens.  After cutting small pieces of the chosen fabrics I laid them onto the base felt, added a few merino felt fibres to soften the edges and then used my embellisher to 'mesh' them together.

To help keep them in place I used various automatic stitches on my sewing machine in matching colours, sewing in lines.  Next I freemachined circles and lines in an off-white to emulate the wax resist lines in the original picture.

 work in progress

Using some more red felt as a lining and for the handle I made the piece into a bag.  Aware that this bag is for a child under 3 I was concerned that it may be possible to pick at the merino fibres and pull some off so I coated the bag with some acrylic wax which glued them in place and also it also makes the bag more durable.  I was really chuffed with how the bag turned out and wondered if it was too good to give a two-year old.  Possibly one of the youngest children to have a designer bag!

Both mother and daughter love the bag.

I GOT MY BUTTER TODAY. I has the Ninja Jazz and Blue Sword shirts. BOO AND YAH, WITH A SIDE OF KAHSHAAAAA. My GOD, they are even more gorgeous than they look on the website, and SO SOFT IT IS LIKE PETTING A SMALL PURRING KITTEN. AJSJGB;SAGBJ;KSBG;KJBJAG;KBRJWAK BUTTER.

I missed the tribute to Humphrey Lyttleton this morning (I was watching Frasier) and I'm going to miss the repeat, so I must do Listen Again asap. But it is Wednesday, and Wednesday means Property Ladder and Child Genius. I LOVE THOSE SHOWS. All the tiny little McKays, and oh, Sarah Beeny and those folks who NEVER LEARN TO BUDGET PROPERLY. OH MY GOD WHERE ARE YOU GETTING THESE ESTIMATES FROM? NO YOU CANNOT KNOCK THROUGH THOSE WALLS AND CREATE A NEW BEDROOM IN EIGHT WEEKS. WHAT ARE YOU ON, MAN?

...other people shout at the TV during sports. I shout at the TV during property shows. What? What, what, I'm middle-class, what.

And then I am going to shower and have CLEAN SHEETS and it will be glorious.

For sale : Custom Bag - Monkey God

Here is a short description about the item from him personally.

"...This bag can be used to hold documents, files, etc. Its soft foam gives protection when holding electronic devices such as camera or gaming devices. Sadly, it is too small to be used as a laptop bag.

Design: A Monkey god drawn street style. Coloured in shades of red.

Will be doing more custom design on bags/laptop bags. If you are bored of your laptop bag or sick of spotting someone carrying the same bag as you, drop me a note we can definitely work something out."

Let's see the product in action. Soft texture of the bag allows folding and it returned to its original state with no distortion to the picture after trying to fold it. This design will be limited to one and this piece only.

Be sure to leave your comment(s) if you are interested. Look out for more products in the future!

30th April 2008- 2 Bank Holidays, 1 Tight Budget

I've not spent anything since weekend so I've finished £17.83 over budget for April. I'm thinking about what to set my budget to for May, considering I have two Bank Holiday weekends in there. Also I've not bought any clothes for months so I think I'm going to have to be buy at least one new item this next month.

Those things considered I've decided on £235, I think its better to set a realistic figure and try to stick to it, rather than running out a week before the end of the month and then going crazy seeing as I've already gone over.  Let's see how it goes.

For the shoeaholic

There arent many ladies I know that can resist shoes, myself & my daughter included! She is only 11 but always heads straight to the shoe section when we are out shopping.

So why not a shoe covered bag to take when you are out shoe shopping or any other shopping as well?

This one is another for the Dilly Bag ladies, wonder who will get it? I know Natalie Barr likes shoes maybe it would be a good one for her?

If you want a bag like you fave celebrity has from me head on over to The Sewing Fairy & to the Bagalicious tab under the Mums Corner section ;)

Bag o’ bags

I am sooooo happy with the colour combo I chose for this one. Originally I was going to use black fabric where the green is but when I dug a little deeper in my cupboard  & found the green it was just perfect, dont you think??

When I find out which lucky celeb receives this bag I will update you all :)

Happy Stitchin
