Hayden-Harnett: they’re the angels in Handbag Heaven!

I just had sex, and I just clicked the link from my email Hayden-Harnett newsletter to their wondrous on-line sale and I could say I don't know which was better. I won't, because I'm a girl in love who hopes to get more of the former in her lifetime! But oh, be still my heart. Nope, it won't be still...! H-H's red floral Montparnasse weekender is the most awesome large bag I have ever seen to gracefully stalk the line between professional and all-out delicious, and the perfect size for us 5'9" and over girls. The sight of it smells like raspberries. Sigh. And then there's the sweet gingersnap smell when you look at the bright ruby Bowery mini-clutch: the fact that it's an extremely practical beautiful design doesn't mitigate its gloriously bad attitude a bit. Sigh! So go, get on the newsletter mailing list already. The link's still ovah there on the right, idn'it?! You will thank yourself. Not to mention Toni and Ben! And finally, for telling me about this hardworking art gang in my much-beloved former hometown of Brooklyn (my rabbi's phone message used to end with "It don't get better than Brooklyn," and i think she was probably right!) I thank, and will always treasure the opinions of, my fashion-acute colleague Ambreen--you rock, darlin'!

Even the H-H website's great, fun to explore, with its contemplative/provocative photography and precious blue-eyed kitteh...I'll stop gushing, promise, but first I must add that the Mercer triple compartment satchel, as practical, lovely and nonchalant as Audrey Hepburn in simple black pants, is not only on sale, but available in two of winter- to- spring- to- summer's best brights, cobalt blue and iznik yellow. So go. Go on. Leave me here to sigh........

fashion focus: tsonga’s adidas bag

FYI, Roger Federer wasn't the only one toting cute white bags onto the tennis courts of Melbourne Park for last week's Australian Open.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga did his part to feed the fashion frenzy with this adidas Vintage Airline bag. Here he is before the 2008 men's final against Nole Djokovic.

The bag game in also came in black/gold colorway, but a quick search showed that it's sold out.

Next best thing: If you'd love to get something similar, I have some suggestions after the cut...

Free patterns & tutorials….

What is better then a free pattern or tutorial??? How about a website full of free instantly printable Burda patterns with support forums & sew-a-longs!!! So I was reading some blogs & clicking on random links today... with my back messed up right now thats all I am really good at. Anyways I don't know what blog or post I clicked through, but some how I fell upon this Burda Style Open Source Sewing site! It has 64 patterns for a variety of things for clothes, bags to things for the home! I was a little bummed that it doesn't have more kids stuff, but thats okay, its about time I started to sew for myself!

There are even picture galleries of completed projects, & you can even upload your own! Well I hope that I can share my find with at least a few people who will enjoy & utilize it.

Four

I love to make handbags. Love. Love. Love. It's fun. It's functional. Usually, it's a short and fast project. People love them. I love them. (In case you didn't get that the first time.) But, I usually get to #3 of a particular style, and then I'm done for a while. Probably a good long while.

Remember these beauties?

Shelly's Bag

Yeah, I was so done with that one. Then Allie says, "Can you make me one like that?" Okay. So we bought the fabric right around the time I had cut out the pattern for number 3. I think that was in October. I used the fabric to make her a pillow for Christmas. I cut out the bag pattern. I looked at the cut pieces. I lost the handle piece I cut out - I never did find it. I lost the pockets, and then found them.

Merry Christmas.

Then, after Gil went back to work following his Christmas break, I became motivated....

TA DA!
Tie Die BagBag Interior

It didn't photo well. It turned out better than I expected. The tie die fabric is horrendous to work with - way too thin. When I sewed the two pieces of the handle together, it puckered. Thank goodness for topstitchhing. It worked though. Only took me about 2 months!

Handbag

So I have a little jar where I put beads on…well maybe not that little..

And yesterday was a day where I had nothing to do, it's been ages since I've done beaded stuff.. because I'm all mad about silver now..

So I made all this to get rid of my stash.. there is shells, pearls, sequins, chains, turtles, coconut, crystals, seed beads... well pretty much everything I could find..I made 3 sets of bracelets and here is the pictures of the different views..

This one is my favorite...for this one I used extra chunks of citrine, some extra amber beads i had laying around. and wood and chain and well look instead  Cheesy

3 bracelets used as one.

Red...

Pink , purple and whitebeads..

A little brooch..

This one was made with memory wire and was the biggest of them all

here's the side views..

Then my favorite leather bag got a hole on it and I was suffering haha !  Grin

fixed!

this is it! sorry for the picture overload!

Sometimes it's good to make little quick stuff..

Erm.... if there are any disputes over the orders let's settle amicably ok?

Though I had checked umpteen times b4 sending the orders over but... my cut-&-paste skill may fail me due to cock-eyeness....

Will advise again on the shipping fees when TW side has weighed the parcel.

Meanwhile... I am going to the airport so won't be online!
